Sri Lanka Standards Institution organized a webinar as the National event to commemorate the World Standards Day on 14th October 2021 for its clients and stakeholders. Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Development Coordination and Monitoring and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the Hon. Minister commended the Sri Lanka Standards Institution for its contribution to national development and congratulated on the World Standards Day celebration.
Mr. Jayantha de Silva, Secretary to the Ministry of Technology delivered a special speech on the occasion. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka, Chairman of Sri Lanka Standards Institution and Dr. (Mrs) Siddhika G. Senaratne, Director General / Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Standards Institution explained the purpose and importance of this event.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Ajith de Alwis, Senior Professor, University of Moratuwa on the WSD theme "Shared vision for a better world". Mrs. Ipsita Jayasekara, Director (Scientific Standards-SLSI) and Mr. Sunanda Fernando, Director (Engineering Standards-SLSI) briefed the audience on the contribution of standardization to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Director General / CEO of Sri Lanka Standards Institution Dr. Siddhika G. Senaratne and Deputy Director General Mrs. Samanthi Narangoda addressed the questions raised by the participants.
