Sri Lanka Standards Institution

Documentation and Information Division (D&I Division) of the SLSI is a one-stop information center for disseminating latest, unique information to the community/any interested party in a wider scope of local and International standards, technical regulations, standardization and quality management. D&I Division facilitates stakeholders with ISO standards, engage with formulation of International standards through International Organization for Standardization’s Technical committees (ISO/TC).

Further, the D&I Division fulfills the national obligation under the World Trade Organization /Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO/TBT) agreement and serving as the WTO enquiry point to facilitate stakeholders in International trading. WTO notifications are distributed to stakeholders in Sri Lanka on monthly basis and uploaded to www.slsi.lk as the responsible information center.

SLSI Library Information

National Sri Lanka Standards (digitalized/hard document) are available for purchasing and reference needs of any interested party in local or foreign.
International Standards ( ISO, IEC, Codex) are available for purchasing and reference needs of any interested party in local or foreign.
Foreign National Standards of any country and regional standrds are available for purchasing and reference needs of any interested party in local or foreign.
Other Standards (AOAC, APHA )are available for reference needs of any interested party in local or foreign
Q-Flags/ quality flags are available in demarcated sizes for purchasing needs of any interested party to commemorate world standards day and quality week in October in every year
Posters – Any tailor made poster on quality related aspects are available for purchasing eg. 5 S concept, Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, Food Safety Management System, Occupational Health and Safety etc.

Normal Membership

Annual subscription for Institutional membership is LKR 5000.00 + VAT , facilitated with 08 Books & 02 Journals. Individual membership is LKR 1000.00 + VAT, facilitated with 02 Books & 01 Journal

A refundable deposit of LKR 1500.00 is required for individual membership for lending facilities for a period of one (01) Month

Membership is valid for one year (12 months) from the date of registration

E-news magazines and journals of other local and foreign stakeholder entities who maintains membership with SLSI. These information are available with the monthly/quarterly/bi-annual/annual highlights of the entity

WSSN – Newsletter comprising of World Standards News
Lib Alert – Compiled on information on global interests and newly emerging trends in the field of quality and related aspects

In fulfilling Sri Lanka’s obligations under WTO agreement , the WTO enquiry point offers the following services to interested parties.

a) Issuing Notifications - The National Enquiry point issues notifications to the WTO secretariat concerning

Impending implementation of new or revised technical regulations in the country.
Code of good practice on the preparation and application of standards & conformity assessment procedures.

b) Handing Enquires

Responds to enquires on Standards, technical regulations & conformity assessments procedures. The enquires may come from the local industry or from foreign investors based in other WTO member states.

c) Handling of comments on notifications

NEP handles comments received from foreign countries on Sri Lankan notification.

d) Provisions of documents related to notifications

NEP facilitates the provisions of full regulatory text of notification upon request.

e) Disseminations of monthly WTO summery notifications to Sri Lanka stakeholders via email alert

1) ISO /TC Committee – Handling of Observer / Participatory Memberships

Documentation and Information Division facilitates the members who handle the activities concerned with ISO technical committees of which SLSI holds either the participatory (“P”) or observer (“O”) membership to convey national interests in ISO standards.
