Energy Labeling

By considering usage of inefficient electrical appliances such as Electric Lamps, Refrigerators, Computers, Air-conditioners, Electric Motors, etc. The Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) has initiated with the participation and contribution of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA). There are two types of labels being issued namely Energy Efficiency Ratings and Minimum Energy Performance.

Energy Label Data

Energy Efficiency Rating Labels

The Energy Efficiency Rating Label shows the energy performance of particular appliances and equipment. It allows consumers to understand how much a particular model will cost to run, and also how energy efficient it might be in comparison to similar models by number of stars. More stars mean more efficient.

Energy Efficiency Rating labels provide consumers with information on the energy efficiency of following products;

  • Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL)
  • Electric Ceiling Fans having 1400 mm (56”) sweep diameter with Regulators.
  • Light Emitting Diode (LED) Module Lamps for General Application (Panel Lamp)
  • Single Split Type Room Air-Conditioners

Minimum Energy Performance Labels

The Minimum Energy Performance Label shows the energy performance of particular appliances and equipment. It allows consumers to understand how much a particular model will cost to run, and also how energy efficient it might be in comparison to similar models by comparing Lumen / Watt. More lumen value for a watt mean more efficient.

Minimum Energy Performance provide consumers with information on the energy efficiency of following products;

  • Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps for General Application
  • Computers
  • Refrigerators
